I'm using windows xp, usb cable through an usb hub to the computer , epson Recently my printing preferences window has shrunk and I cannot reach all the options as before. There are no scroll bars, the window cannot enlarge or be resized in anyway. I have tried reinstalling the new drivers epson.
As the printer isn't networked unless the hub counts? But that does not seem to work, deteching an IP for the printer. Is there a way to correct this? I'm thinking its some settings error. An excellent reply Denny, but how do we clean the rollers and print head assembly?
Epson does not provide maintenance manuals with their printers and from what I've seen you cannot turn the metal roller by hand. I considered using a printer cleaning sheet, but Epson's website states NOT to do so. Brian: The cleaning necessary on the Printhead Assembly, depends on what kind of problem you are actually having. If it won't print, or prints only partially, then you may actually have a possibly clog and then you would need to use the "Epson Printhead Cleaning Solution" to try and dissolve the clog from the insides of the printhead assembly. It includes a syringe and some Epson Printhead Cleaning Solution, which is designed to dissolve most clogs, especially if you were using Epson inks.
This is the same chemical used by Epson in their service department. You can try it if you want to and see if you can get the printhead nozzles to open up again, but that will only help if they are actually clogged. It was basically designed by Epson Company for use on their older models of ink jet printers, but people have been using on the newer models, with some sucess reported. Unfortunatly, that SSC Utility does not work on all printers and on all Operating Systems and sometimes won't even work on printers that are actually listed, so you will have to check it out for yourself.
If it does work for you, people have had some success using its "separate cleaning of color and black heads routine" and its "powerful cleaning mode", but be warned it uses up ink faster. Check for an e-mail from me, with some additional information with that cleaning kit, in case you decide to use it If you are getting streaks or ink lines on your copies, then it may be a possible build-up of dried ink, dust, dirt, lint and hair, that builds up on the bottom side and backside areas of the Printhead Assembly and you would need to clean those two areas.

Check for some other info on cleaning those areas, that I will also e-mail to you, that may help, if that is causing your printers problem You may need to try and locate an actual Service Manual, or Reset Procedure on-line, to buy and download for reference in disassembly, troubleshooting and servicing. I am using a new Epson Stylus Photo printer to print of a high volume of portfolio images, double-sided, on Hahnemuhle 13x19" inkjet paper. The problem I am having is that the first set of rollers will not always catch on the paper. The printer drops the paper in initially, but then when it should pull it the rest of the way in to start printing, it doesn't always catch.
This means one of two things: it starts printing as usual, only dispensing the ink inside the printer instead of on to the paper, or the paper eventually catches, but the delayed time to start pulling the paper through means that then the double-sided images will not register on the top and bottom, portrait aligned. I suspect that a coating on the paper is getting on the rubber rollers that prevents them from catching on the paper.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Issac, I have had a similar problem with Lyson Fine Art paper.

I suspect the coating of the paper, loose fibres, adheres to the rubber feed rollers and the rollers lose their 'stickiness'. I have found that feeding a glossy finish paper through seems to help for a short while, perhaps removing some of the dust from the rollers. The most effective method I found was to clean the rollers with water, gently.
I remember this involved me taking the printer apart. I didn't find this easy as I had not discovered this forum and did it without a manual but really needed the printer working then to finish an exhibition. However, it took me a very long time to realign the heads using the Epson alignment utility. Richard - Anonymous. That particular paper, may simply not be with-in your "'s" paper specifications, but no way for me to really know. If your printer is actually new and still under its origional Factory Warranty, then there's no charge to talk to the "Epson Technical Support Department".
That way you are talking directly with a technician, that is actually trained by Epson Company on your particular printer. If your printer is out of warranty, you will need a credit card, before the technicians can help you, because there is a charge for technical support over the phone Denny, The printer is still under warrenty, but when I talked to him, the service technician was not helpful.

He basically said that the paper being used was not covered for Epson printers, and to use an Epson matt paper. But, since their papers do not have the quality I need, I am left to my own resources to fix the problem. Isaac: I'm sorry, but I don't know of any adjustment or even anything you can do to make your printer accept that paper stock.
That manual may be of some help in servicing your printers paper feed assembly, or even for possible disassembly reference.

Now when I print after the printer sets for a period of time I only get one or two red lines, which appear broken at times on each side of print head. They are not always consistent. After running a few test sheets through it clears up and I'm able to print without the red lines showing.

Read lots of posts elsewhere too where a new print head was recommended; luckily for me , my problem WAS quite simply a protrusion of solid matter dirt?! By copiously using head cleaner methylated spirits will do on a cotton bud, I removed it, and it Epson now again prints perfectly.
The red lines I was trying to eliminate started and got worse over just one day; at first they appeared just at the start of printing a photo, but then developed to totally regular, a millimeter or so apart, and full page width. I'm just posting this in case it's helpful to someone who DOES have the same problem as me. This might save someone some money. If a colored line goes past the border of the actual printed image, that usually also indicates a failing printhead assembly Here is a procedure to confirm that the print head is failing: print the same picture at a lower resolution than the resolution which the problem occurs.pampmarpeweti.tk

Sometimes the problem does not occur at dpi or lower. If the problem does not occur then the print head is failing There's a slight possibility that a build-up of dried ink, dust, dirt, lint and hair, that has possibly built-up on the bottom side and backside areas of the Printhead Assembly, can sometimes cause the "Printhead Nozzles" to fire crooked and that can cause a colored line to appear.
The only way to find out, is to clean those two areas, just to eliminate that possibility. You may want to perform that in-depth cleaning, to at least eliminate those very common problem areas.

I hope that in-depth cleaning information, actually helps to correct your printers problem Although its a lot of information to read and to follow, its not actually that hard to perform the needed servicing and cleaning. That info is posted step by step, so its usually not that hard to actually follow the steps in the actual cleaning procedure Don't know about the , but the P does have a thickness adjustment tab on the right hand side under the dust cover.
I was having horrible problems with one of the inks streaking like crazy with epson photo paper and thought I needed to get a new printhead or new printer. I tried all the other tricks suggested here with no luck. Once I flipped this from 0 to 1, the problems went away. The other stuff was still helpful, though My printer is now printing crisp, clean, usable prints. Thanks again. I have had an Epson for a couple of years and over the last year or more I have noticed faint horizontal lines i. The lines are less apparent when printing at but are noticeable with a loupe.

The lines become more visible at lower resolution, e. I am using the 1. Nozzle check prints fine. I have adjusted the heads several times. I have cleaned the heads with "Epson Printhead Cleaning Solution" - both flushed them and set them in solution overnight. This has not been a heavy use printer but I suppose it might have a hardware problem anyway. I am just about fed up printing everything at a snails pace at only to get prints that don't stand up to scrutiny.

I hate to just pitch the printer but I'm getting tired of this problem. I assume Epson, if they could actually "fix" it, would be pretty expensive. Has anyone sent in a to Epson for hardware repair.? Is there a reasonable way to test if this is in fact a hardware problem? Thanks very much. In all liklihood the printhead is failing.

We had an Epson that was purchased in june , with ArTainium dye sub UV bulk ink delivery system attached. This bulk ink is made to work with this printer.
The printer went unused for about 3 months. When we tried to use it again, several of the inks were not getting to the page. After fiddling with it for weeks, cleaning, adjusting, talking with repair people, etc. We purchased a brand new in August and attached the bulk ink system to it. Ran several tests with no problems. Printer is not used very often, so due the past problems, twice a week we do nozzle checks, clean heads if necessary from print utility and print a purge pattern.
Been doing this for several weeks now; sometimes it may take head cleanings before all colors print clearly.
